Da kann ich mich der Meinung von Sigrid nur anschliessen. Man sollte ihn stehen lassen. Die Natur hat ihren eigenen sinnvollen Kreislauf. Ein schönes Bild.

Hmm... how do you know it's a HE-tree - producing fruit and all...?:) Anyway, I agree that even withered, leafless and sad he/she is still wonderful in their dignified solitude.

i'm sure "life before the chainsaw" is still worth living! the fauna will still benefit from it, even without foliage: it's a nice spot for a nervous squirrel to sit and calm down for a while, or a migrating bird to pause and recharge its batteries before, well… migrating on! it may even give shelter to the smallest of the small, maybe offer young tit love (no offense, i'm speaking of the bird! ; ))) a hollow knothole to build their nest in and raise their young. a lonely woodpecker veteran might come along, too, glad to be able to sink its wrinkly old beak into its bark and probe for sleeping worms and dozing deathwatches, like he did when he was young! ; )) greetings, sabine.
