Tlake Kremaston Dam
The Lake Kremaston is the largest artificial lake complex in central Greece. Its cconstruction was completed in 1965. The imposing complex concentrates waters from four rivers and the accumulated water bulk forms a plateau of lakes of about 8 cubic Km(3.100.000 acres-ft). The dam prevents the flow of the main river Acheloos to flood and supplies electricity to a national grid during peaks of demand. At the time of its construction, was the largest earth filled hydroelectric project in Europe. There are two bridges over the lake complex, Tatarna and Episcopi. The dense forests and the altitude of the surrounding area make the place a most wonderful scenery that reflects pleasantly a surprising variety of extreme atmospharic and seasonal alterations.During the winter monts there are places for winter sports.
