The Wrong End.

D50 with 50mm f/1.8. ISO 1600. There is a gun shop next door to the place I'm now working at. I've got some neat shots there between customers. There are two ends to a gun. The right end, and......

This is very good - I like the DOF in this capture - and like the crisp sharpness at the muzzle. Good job!

    Nice shot Brad.
To expand on this photo, try to just place a 308 bullet head into the hole on the muzzle end, sticking out about 3/4 of the way, and take another photo.to show the bullet coming out.
If that gun shop sells reloading supplies, he should stock just the bullets.

Thanks for your comments. The gun shop owner said the gun shoots something like one hundred 308 caliber shells per minute. The lighting in the shop was bad, and I tried 200, 400, and 800 ISO, before deciding 1600 was the best. As far as the DOF, the shot as it appears here, turned out exactly as I was hoping it would. The result you see is what I was trying to accomplish. This was MY vision, although I'm sure a lot of people would have attempted this shot differently. We all SEE in a different manner. Thanks again, and Happy Holidays!

Hi Brad. I'm a little undecided about this shot. I used to hunt but not such a fan any more. Why such a high iso? Was the light suspect? I think I would have liked a slightly deeper DOF. Otherwise it's nice and sharp at "the wrong end". Cheers..Rob
