Hi, Flighty. I know that you'd like to read the story of this picture and I' ve tried to translate it. My English is very clumsy, but I hope you can understand:
This text tell and ancient legend from Melanesia about the human origins:
A god called Quat maked six dolls with a special tree´s wood, 3 men and 3 women. He buried them for six days and later he danced and played the drum to give them the life. But another god, Marawa, also wanted to make human dolls, this god was very clumsy and he buried his dolls too long, wen he returned they smelled bad and so the death began in the world.
Far away in space and time, in ancient Germanic mythology, the god Odin also created humans with trees: Embla and Ask, woman and man, the elm and the ash.
