World's End: Cabo de Finisterre

Scan of a 10x15 print
Following an old tradition since the middle ages, pilgrims burn their clothes when they come to the end of their journey, which was considered to be also to the end of the world, Finisterre. The burning of their clothes symbolizes the rite of rebirth as far as someone who has borne all the privations of the pilgrimage has become a new person. One leaves behind all what he or she has worn until now, purifies in the sea, and returns home.
