Astipalea has a reach history extending to the Bronze era. Because of it's position it has always been the target for occupation by the Minoans, Athenians, Romans and Byzantines and many times victim of ferocious pirate attacks.It flourished under Venetian occupation.
In the photo the castle and the capital Hora around it making it one of the most picturesque spots in Dodecanese and Aegean Sea.
