Does the Bureau know about this?
Of course, these days, souvenir stands along the National Mall in Washington, D.C. are
just brimming with FBI pullovers, caps, sequined nighties (just kidding...I think!), and other apparel.
But, as I took this picture with my “new” 1950s Brownie Hawkeye, it occurred to me that
when the Brownie was America’s snapshot camera of the Eisenhower years, and I was
a young sprout carrying my original Brownie Hawkeye everywhere I went, including when
my folks took me to visit Washington, including to the Bureau’s headquarters, the FBI Director
at the time, J Edgar Hoover, might have cast a withering glance at such apparel.
Ah, well, times change…but the Brownie Hawkeye is…eternal.
For this roll, the trusty Brownie was viewing the world through a "reversed" lens,
hence the "selective" focus. The photo was made on Kodak T-Max 400 black and white film.
