Happy Holidays, F-C!
It started out rather unpromising for photography. A soaking rain was falling as our little narrow gauge train departed Wilderswil for Schynige Platte, the high plateau (6,811 feet/2076 meters) which looks up at the Eiger-Mönch-Jungfrau Massif and down on the Brienzersee and the Thunersee.
As a photographer, something that I like so much about Alpine settings is how the weather can change in short spans of time,
whether with passing fronts or altitude. And the latter was definitely in play, as our little train climbed out of the valley.
No, the sun didn’t magically appear, as sometimes happens when climbing through cloud cover; but with increasing altitude came swirling snowflakes. In fact, it had clearly been snowing for a while up here, creating this early winter wonderland on an early October day.
