It's So Easy Being Green - A Piedmont Autumn Impression
Oh, yeah, I know…
All those autumn leaf-peepers and photographers look straight past me and ignore me as though I was “Mr. Cellophane.”
But while all my glamorous gold and red neighbors (*) bask in all that autumn glow and get all that attention,
guess what – in another few weeks all their “glam” will have turned to crunchy brown on the forest floor.
Bye-bye, glamour-pusses. Glad I don’t gotta do that every year!
Me, I just stay green all year long, and when the right kind of snow falls in the forest, my boughs get coated in
gorgeous fluffy winter white. And my neighbors – they’re lucky if their bare branches even hold any snow.
Ha! Mother Nature loves me just as much, in white … or green!
At least that's what I thought I heard him saying last Wednesday, while shooting in The Plains, Virginia ;-)
