Mekong river during the dry season
The 4,909 km river runs from Tibet in China through Burma, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Here at the side of Vientianne was captured this photo and it seems that you can across the dry riverbed to the other side to Thailand.
China has built a total of 11 mainstream dams and 120 dams on tributaries are planned, which scientists warn will imperil the already fragile river system.
A small riverline is running for transport the vessels from part to the next part during opening the watergates for a short while every four hours.
