Mostly the women carry on their heads bast containers, which are filled with offerings for the temple.
The women in Bali make these beautiful creations, some of which are real tricks. Flowers, petals, biscuits, cigarettes, money, joss sticks and other gifts are in the braided basket, carried on their heads. Offerings to worship the gods and appease demons are part of every daily routine of every Balinese.
Cotik, the eldest sister of Mayang, carries the offerings to the temple Pura Melanting in order to get her blessing from the goddess Melanting and for her whole family.
