Pausing along the Potomac
The plaza atop the Watergate Steps, near the Lincoln Memorial, affords
views of the broad Potomac River and the Arlington, Virginia shoreline.
On this late summer afternoon, a storm is approaching down the Potomac, its slate-colored sky
unseen in this image, but nonetheless beginning to cast an ominous darkness on the water.
The small Coast Guard craft is heading upriver in the direction of the storm.
