Red Water Lily
Water lilies grow only in stand still freshwaters, like large lush ponds and lakes, with both leaves and flowers floating on the water surface.
The Red Water Lily is sometimes called the queen of aquatic plants.
Hundreds of years ago, the roots of water lilies were crushed and mixed with wine by monks and nuns as……. contra-aphrodisiac.
Did it work ? No idea (and I’m not gonna try it to find out !)
Dutch name : Rode Waterlelie
German name : Rote Seerose
Latin name : Nymphaea atropurpurea
