Scully during the moult
Raptors normally moult over the span of about 6 months...a few feathers here, a few feathers there, but for some reason, Scully loses all of his head feathers during the month of August. He reminds me of Grampa Munster from the 60's TV show "The Munster's" ! The reason he lives in captivity with me is because as a tot, his tree was cut out from under him and he broke his jaw in the fall. What is normally a tearing beak now can only hold. Owls can swallow one third of their body weight whole, so it isn't trouble at all for him to eat. We have lived together for over 13 years...
