Strange space in old city

This space between the buildings in old city is very unusual. Two stories houses creates space where difficult to find sun. In summer time there not too hot. When you walk between these buildings also difficult to get light for the making picture. I think sometimes how neighbours live there..:)? And also can not understand why this wall in the left returns in so circle direction.
