The Fungi World (136) : Orange Birch Bolete
The Orange Birch Bolete is a fungus that grows only under birches, mostly on acid moorland.
2011 seems to be a good year for Birch Boletes, as it’s already the third species that I found this autumn (see pictures below).
However, the Orange Birch Bolete stands on the Red List of vulnerable and threatened species !

German name : Birkenrotkappe
Latin name : Leccinum versipelle

We have a lot of these fungi when it rains and warm weather. They are delicious and can be dried for winter ...A very beautiful photo.
