Waterway through the swamp
Last hundred meters to the Inle lake side and the village of the pottery handicraft center called Kyauk Taung. The canal is too shallow and we had to get off the boat walking through the mud.
Captured on the Inle Lake in Shan State Myanmar.
First time in 1981 I spent my honey moon journey with my wife in Burma., People told us to visit the lake before it will stagnate and dry out for ever. At the present in 2013 we are very happy that the people who told us that prognosis were wrong. The lake today is as beautiful as 33 years ago.
The Inle Lake is located in the heart of the Shan Plateau. It is a beautiful highland lake, 900 meters above sea level. The lake is 22km long and 10km across, and inhabited by many different ethnic nationals of the area. The Intha people are the Lake dwellers who are unique for their leg rowing. Leg rowed traditional boats are the main ceremonial attractions of the Inlay Lake.
