Abbey Lavender

Part of the 'Abbey' series.
France - June, 2001
The Notre - Dame de Senanque Abbey is located in the township of Gordes along the Luberon Valley.
Founded by the Cistercian monks in 1148 ACE. The abbey took 100 years to construct.
After various events throughout the ages, the abbey has been returned to its monastic ways and is still run by the monks.
Besides tourism ,the abbey is supported by the sale of its crop of lavender . Said to be the 'sweetest' in the world.

This is a stunning photograph. I like that you chose so much foreground for the lavendar to soften the stone walls. Just beautiful. I'd like to see more.
