Arabian Nights gone.....
Emirates
Dubai
Dedicated to my dear friend and architect Jannos Gardonyi
Seeking for a pleasant brake on a Dubai pier bench the lady averts her glance from what looks to stand far away from glamorous Arabian night tales about glorious veziirs, magic carpets and loving princes casting away the spell from sleeping beauties....Now, western architects compete in introducing the most awkward specimens of present day aesthetics creating an entirely diferent reality... Globalization...

Ugly is a word that comes to my mind......... especially when you think of the old styles of architecture.Well taken.

what strong contrast in this image of the traditional and the ultra modern ...the local woman and a few old boats ..... and then those glaring buildings
in their strong colours and unusual shapes.
A well composed and thought out image - and it too making one think !!!
best regards,
Adele

Excellent picture Alexander, vivid and so well composed.Unfortunately they removed mostly of the cargo Dhows from that part of Deira to put them closed to Creek's end and so one of the most picturesque and attractive photographers "hot spot" is gone.

Unusual conception but in my opinion this is the proof of human conceit... Impressive? Yes. Friendly for people? Surely, not.Of course say about architecture, not about picture, which is pefectly composed :)
