At the Station

The Pacific Central railway station in Vancouver .... where my husband left late in the evening for a 3 nights, 2 1/2 days train ride from Vancouver to Toronto (about 5000 km) - access to the platform is only for travellers, so I had to wave to him and take my photo through the glass door !!!

Love the lighting and those classic 1950s streamlined cars - truly timeless, and hat's off to VIA for maintaining this equipment.
Sadly, I must agree with Sabine about not allowing loved ones to kiss by the steps to the sleeper. What do they think they're running - a bloody airport? Our times, I guess, but truly a missing dimension.
Happily, your image evokes memories of gliding through the Banff Rockies in that domed observation car, on the way to Vancouver, Molson in one hand, a camera in the other ;-)

Das ist ja sehr interessant. Ich meine, daß Dein Ehemann diese Eisenbahnstrecke befährt. Ich als Eisenbahnfan würde da gerne mal mitfahren.
