Fez
Fez is really a legendary city with its most densely populated Medina in the Arab world struggling to accomodate, from early morning rise to dawn, more than a million people trafficking moisely in a maze of tiny streets and markets. And yet, among all this crazy world there are also peaceful places of mosques and old palaces where one can sit and relax in beautiful gardens and kiosks. In this very old Medina, is located the University Al Quaraouliyne, founded in 859, the oldest continuously functioning university in the world.
The Medina of Fez is listed as a World Heritage Site and it is called "Mecca of the West" and "Athens of Africa".
In the photo one of those peaceful places, The Palace Dar Batha.
