Beasty.

My daughter found him on a walk. He had to stay in his natural surroundings unfortunately ;))

: ))))))))))) hey, sally! i think there are others – bigger ones, especially grown for mom's making sure the native ones stay in their "natural habitat" ; ))) – and these can be bought and taken home, you know! ; )))) i'm just kidding you… i know exactly what you mean… wouldn't want to have one of them creep through my house and start a beetle dynasty in my bedroom… great capture, though, of mr. beasty here! he seems a little "back-heavy" – maybe (s)he is already carrying eggs around with her in that huge chitinous abdomen of hers – it's spring after all! hugs, sabine.

Great macro capture, Sally .... such sharp details in this little black beetle - and nice to see the proportions with your daughter's hand as a comparison.
    big hug, Adele
