It's a pity that the large white spot ( blown out highlight ) is taking so much attention away from the actual subject. Next sime you should try to use some white sheet or a reflection screen to bring som light to the shadows and then make you metering in accordance with the highlights. In that way you can make the differende between high and lowlight a bit smaller.
