I don´t know the German or English name from these sweetwater fisch, in Dutch it´s called a "Spiegelkarper". It took me quite a long time to have him this close to my camera. And it was cold, with only a snorkel and a swimming pant to make no noice.

yep Klaus already told it ... Karper and 'karpfen' might be of the same origin ... But this one you didn´t find in the Scheldt ?

Real good picture you've taken. And this by conditions which does not make it easy. Only point to mention for improvement might be by elimination of the backscatters.

The german name is "Spiegelkarpfen", in our region (near Nuremberg) its also called "Weihersau". Nice picture.
