C & O Canal at Great Falls in Springtime
The colors of new growth in Springtime are very much in evidence as the Eastern Redbud trees compliment the pastel greens on this April afternoon along the historic Chesapeake and Ohio Canal at Great Falls in Potomac, Maryland.
Reconstruction of the canal locks is taking place between here and Georgetown, thus accounting for
the low water, and the out-of-service canal barge alongside of Great Falls Tavern and Visitors Center.
Nearby, a trail leads to exciting views of the rapids leading to the falls.(*)
The tranquil scene in the soft late day light was captured on Fujichrome Velvia-50 slide film,
through a Yashica ML 135mm f/2.8 lens on a Contax 137MD.
