Cabo Verde

Cabo Verde - Cape Verde

First image of a series starting soon.

10 islands ca. 400 km. West of Senegal, the Republic of Cabo Verde, former Portuguese Colony is in our days a land full of contrast beeing discovered and in many cases blindsided by mass tourism.
This time visited Sal and Boa Vista Islands. Both can be colorfull, melancholic, shiny, arid and lively in one. Fantastic beaches and home of a careta careta turtle species. The number of tourists surpasses the population figures and can be very distressed. Well known hotel chains mainly working on all inclusive format produces jobs for locals but take there scarcest resorces. Last time it rained was in August last Year, water is produced by desalination plant and not good for personal consumption, so bottled water must be imported and creates a waste problem that can be spotted at any corner of the Island. Dry and salty desert like landscape but very warmy and friendly people are a great contrast.
Will try to show pictures portraiting the landscape, way of life and cultural activities. Many street stories will bring a little light from Cabo Verde.
