Church in Kovalam

Kovalam, Kerala State

The Southern India state on the Arabian sea is famous not only because of the backwaters, tea plantages and ayurveda but also for the beaches in Kovalam area. British tourists named it "Costa Kovalam" or Indian IIbiza and come to celebrate parties after parties.
Of course Indu religion is the most followed one but is not free of conflicts as the region after colonisation by the Portuguese has also a remarkable percentage of Christians. Muslims also live in this state and since long there is a coexistence problem with fights and lost of lives.
Around Kovalam there is a kind of demarcation line and the different religions do not cross it, myself experienced one day going around and taking candid pictures been approached by to men who told " is time you go back home" of course followed their advise.
This is an example of one of the Churchs there and color is typical for India. Must add that many people choose to place their sons and daughters at a Catholic schools as apparently they get better education.
