Podong Gigi the words for the tooth filing cermony also called Matatah.
For strong religious reasons, every Hindu in Bali Hinduism must have his or her upper canines and incisors filed before marriage and at the latest before death.
A priest grinds down the six upper incisors and the canines, which are considered animalistic, evenly. This is intended to regulate the six vices of greed, jealousy, anger, stupidity, lust and lack of self-control.
krodha = anger
kama = lust
loba = greed
mada = lack of self-control
moha = stupidity
matsarya = jealousy

Ich sehe und lese auch das erste mal davon.
Und wunderes mich etwas in diesen modernen Zeiten noch solch ein Ritual.. das das leben wie ich finde negativ beeinflusst

  Es gibt leider noch viel Schlimmeres, da denke ich an die Beschneidungen, ganz besonders bei den Mädchen, und das hat mit einer Religion nicht zu tun, sondern nur mit einer widerlichen gesellschaftlichen Abart. Gruß Wolfgang

Das ist ja sehr interessant, davon wusste ich bisher noch nichts. Für mich wäre das auch ein tolles Fotomotiv, die Behandlung würde ich allerdings ablehnen, ich möchte nämlich alle meine Laster behalten :-)
