Kensington Gardens - Albert Memorial
Commissioned by Queen Victoria in memory of her consort Prince Albert, it is a choral work executed in collaboration with various artists and subsequently abandoned for a long time. The statue was restored in 2006 and then covered with gold leaf. The base is surrounded by a frieze representing countless recognisable faces of famous architects, sculptors, painters and poets of that time.
