Duane Street Afternoon - No.3

Even the pigeons managed to cast long shadows in the shafts of late afternoon
sunlight filtering into this canyon of old brick and cobblestone in New York's Tribeca.

More on this two block stretch of Lower Manhattan and the pleasures of shooting there on a late spring afternoon:

My today´s commenting I want to finish with Henri Cartier-Bresson: "To take photographs means to recognize - simultaneously and within a fraction of a second - both the fact itself and the rigorous organization of visually perceived forms that give it meaning. It is putting one's head, one's eye and one's heart on the same axis."
I would say that´s exactly what you have practised while portraying Tribeca, Steve. A great series. And I only can repeat my hope to see more from your time in Tribeca. I feel enormously attracted by this N.Y. neighborhood, your delight and the outcome -> your photos! Thanks a lot for sharing them with us.

: )) … and they seem to enjoy it tremendously, prancing around in their unusually suave and elegant shadows… ; ) love the special mood created by the light, the low point of view and… the pigeon named icarus, flying into the beam of sunshine at the right moment but, much to its own disappointment, receiving a cooking spoon as its shadow ; ) greetings, sabine. p.s.: and so strange, too, how in its shadow a handbag can turn into a cat perched on its cycling owner's shoulder! ; ))
