the little ones aren't fledgelings yet, so to open the safety pin would be fatal to them: they'd fall and be exposed to all kinds of dangers – stomping feet, hungry predators, rain, cold, the elements. but mom and dad can't fly away to collect food either. the safety pin's a seesaw. one flying up will render it suddenly out of balance, and the little ones will be catapulted into the air – no safety net will catch them. so what the two paralyzed parents would have to do is fly up and return simultaneously, so that the balance is never disturbed – an almost impossible endeavor! bringing up children these days is a tightrope walk! a great thought-provoking image, odette! easily interpretable and pellucid even to people like me who aren't familiar with the realities of french politics you're probably hinting at. bises, sabine.TralalaRita 05/04/2013 13:48
