In addition to observing the returned beavers, there is also the opportunity to fish at Mill Dam. In any case, you can relax here and enjoy nature. The leaves on the trees were just beginning to change color, but a few weeks later the sight must be amazing. Since we were only there briefly at lunchtime, we unfortunately weren't able to spot any beavers.

"The hilly country north of Dunkeld is dotted with small lochans - scenic stretches of blue water concealed by craggy tops and tranquil mixed forestry. Popular with fishermen, they they make great rest stops for walkers and mountainbikers exploring the area. Cally Loch is the first you encounter. It's just a short distance from the car park and is so well hidden by trees you could easily miss it. Mill Dam, Rotmell Loch and Dowally Loch follow in close succession higher up and a couple of miles on you come to Loch Ordie with its quaint fishing lodge. The next stretch is altogether more remote with a long section over open moorland to Loch Oisinneach Mor. It's little sister, Loch Oisinneach Beag is not far on. From there, the route turns south and there's a great wee bothy to visit just a mile up the hill. The tiny tin shack is ideal for a quick pit-stop or you could spend the night there - it has beds, chairs, and a stove. All the comforts of home, miles from anywhere! This route is easily contained within a day if you're using a mountainbike. For those on foot, it can be split into two easy days with an overnight stop at Sarah's Bothy."

Am Mill Dam gibt es, neben der Beobachtung der zurückgekehrten Bieber, auch die Möglichkeit zu fischen. Auf jeden Fall kann man hier herrlich entspannen und die Natur genießen. Das Laub der Bäume begann gerade erst sich zu verfärben, aber ein paar Wochen später muss der Anblick wohl fantastisch sein. Da wir nur kurz zur Mittagszeit dort waren, haben wir leider auch keine Bieber entdecken können.

„Das hügelige Land nördlich von Dunkeld ist mit kleinen Lochans übersät – malerische Abschnitte mit blauem Wasser, die von schroffen Gipfeln und ruhigen Mischwäldern verdeckt werden. Sie sind bei Fischern beliebt und eignen sich hervorragend als Rastplätze für Wanderer und Mountainbiker, die die Gegend erkunden. Cally Loch ist der erste. Er liegt nicht weit vom Parkplatz entfernt und ist so gut von Bäumen versteckt, dass man ihn leicht übersehen könnte. Mill Dam, Rotmell Loch und Dowally Loch folgen dicht hintereinander weiter oben und nach ein paar Meilen erreichen Sie Loch Ordie mit seiner malerischen Fischerhütte. Der nächste Abschnitt ist mit einem langen Abschnitt über offenes Moorland zum Loch Oisinneach Mor ist insgesamt etwas abgelegener. Seine kleine Schwester, Loch Oisinneach Beag, ist nicht weit entfernt. Von dort biegt die Route nach Süden ab und es gibt eine tolle kleine Hütte, die einen Besuch wert ist, nur eine Meile den Hügel hinauf. Die winzige Blechhütte ist ideal für einen kurzen Boxenstopp oder Sie könnten dort die Nacht verbringen – sie verfügt über Betten, Stühle und einen Herd. Alle Annehmlichkeiten von zu Hause, meilenweit von allem entfernt! Mit dem Mountainbike ist die Strecke problemlos innerhalb eines Tages zu bewältigen. Für diejenigen, die zu Fuß unterwegs sind, kann die Wanderung mit einer Übernachtung in Sarah's Bothy in zwei einfache Tage aufgeteilt werden."
