Great Orange Tip

This one is a new capture for me as I have never been able to shoot it with any kind of clarity before, definitely a fast moving target. Leighann and I made a trip to south Florida this holiday weekend to Butterfly World. I did not capture much, so you will not have to endure many from me this time LOL. It is always a fun place to be, as they pipe in music and it has several levels to be able to view the thousands of butterflies flitting in and out of the trees and various landscaping paths.

It was very breezy yesterday as it is open with just screening. As a matter of fact, it rained a short portion of the day and it got quite wet inside. It took a while for the butterflies to come out of cover after the rains. I know many people think inside of a containment like this it is easy to capture shots of butterflies, but it is more difficult because you can not use a tripod or monopod. And besides the breeze outside, there is always wind piped in to keep moisture down, so the foliage is always moving and basically, you have to hold your breath and just shoot. I shoot in bursts of at least three shots, to drop the mirror on the first shot and the second and third have a better chance with no motion blur.

Shot with a Nikon D-200 camera, a Nikon Micro 105mm lens, shutter speed of 1/160 sec, aperture F/20, hand held
