Inconspicuous grey --- Microsphaera alphitoides Griffon & Maubl.

Das Foto eines s.g. Eichenmehltau (Microsphaera alphitoides), Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota. Ich glaube, dass ist das erste Mal, dass kaum etwas zu sehen ist von dem Organismus den ich vorstellen will. Tatsächlich geht es um den grauen Flaum auf dem kleinen Eichensetzling (Quercus robur)! Dieser, vermutlich vor etwa 100 Jahren eingeschleppter Pilz, ist biotroph, was bedeutet, dass er stark vom lebenden Wirt abhängt und deswegen „nur“ nimmt was er braucht. Schädlich ist er gerade für ältere Eichen nicht, machen kann man aber auch nicht viel gegen ihn. Drumherum sind Fliegenpilze (Amanita muscaria) angeordnet.

The picture of a so-called powdery mildew (oak-infecting type: Erysiphe alphitoides), Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota. I think this is the first time that the actual model is only barely visible. The organism I’m talking about is the grey fuzzy coat on the oak (Quercus robur) sapling! This powdery mildew probably invaded Europe around 100 years ago. It lives as a biotroph parasite, which means it’s heavily dependents on a living host. So, it “only takes what it needs”. Yet, the fungus is not really harmful, especially to older host individuals. Around the sapling are fly amanita (Amanita muscaria).
