Into Deep Water.
A bulk carrier heads out of the Straits of Dover into the deeper water of the English Channel. I have to admit to a melancholy each time I see a ship heading slowly west to the horizon, released from the close embrace of the Straits of Dover to the wide open, engulfing space beyond.
