Into the Wild Blue Yonder

An approaching weather front enabled me to capture the soaring columns of the Air Force Memorial,
overlooking Washington from high ground in Arlington, Virginia, against constantly changing dramatic skies,
near the end of an early autumn day.

The image was captured on Kodak Ektar-100 film.

It is available in archival gallery prints and as a custom printed Photo Note Card.

dark clouds swarming an innocent blue sky – a very dramatic and highly symbolic background to the imposing monument indeed! i read up on it on wikipedia and found out that the three "soaring columns" are supposed to represent the contrails of the air force thunderbirds peeling back in a special maneuver that's their signature. have to admit, though, that my very first thought was a different one: for some reason, i was reminded me of the fossilized bones of a giant prehistoric whale! ; ) a great original view of this rather new landmark of your city! greetings, sabine. p.s.: love how the memorial matches the clouds exactly in color!
