New born life
This female Mallard makes an excursion with her 4 ducklings.
The ducklings of the Mallard are precocious and can swim and feed themselves on insects and plants as soon as they hatch, although they always stay near their mother for protection.
Location : the wetlands of nature reserve ‘Molsbroek’ at Lokeren (Belgium)
Dutch name : Wilde eend
German name : Stockente
Latin name : Anas platyrhynchos
