Dirk, Petra, Ruth and Ulla four names and four storms.

These storms swept the Atlantic coast of Europe between December 2013 and February 2014. This outburst of nature gave me these pictures, being Ouessant early February. My base, opposite the lighthouse Nividic, West most point of the island ...

Petra storm arrived in Ireland on 4 February. The maximum intensity was reached in the early evening with gusts of 150 km / h at Ushant and 155 Km / h in Camaret. The wind caused a swell sometimes more than 19 meters.

storm Qumaira

On the night of Thursday 6 to Friday, February 7, the storm is expected Qumaira on the Atlantic and the North Sea.

Petra after the storm caused damage especially in Britain and the grounding of a freighter in Anglet on the Basque coast, the storm Qumaira episode should be the largest since mid-December and accompanied by tips wind 170km / h on the coast and 100km / h at the inland.

After Dirk, Petra, Qumaira, it is the turn of Ruth hit western France.

The storm Ruth is a replica of the storm Petra. There were winds of 110 km / h and waves between 8 and 10 m (maximum 13 m in Belle Isle).

Ulla storm, coming from the west, reached the UK on 14 February. This is the strongest storm of the winter. Winds exceeded 150 km / h on the coast. A point 168 km / h was recorded at Camaret.

On February 15, the storm moved to the north coast.
