Processione del Venerdì Santo a Castelbuono

For the Christian world are of paramount importance, every year, numerous religious services which recall the passion of Jesus Christ. 
In Holy Week, which culminates with Easter Sunday, the solemn procession on Saint Friday, and between these rites, that more than others see the intense popular participation.
In the various Catholic communities, the procession takes place in different forms, which draw on ancient
local traditions.
A Castelbuono, beautiful hill town in Sicily, the procession on Saint Friday assume a character of particular severity. The procession is a procession "mourning, in fact exists absolute black and will not be tolerated
colors of any kind.
The statues of the dead Jesus, placed inside a glass coffin, and Madonna Sorrows, depicted seated, are carried in procession from the Confraternity of “Addolorata” male, on the shoulder.
The whole procession takes place in complete silence, except for bands and a few pieces to the heartbreaking song "Stabat Mater”, sung the band and singers, some characteristic points of the route. During the song, everything stops. In an almost sepulchral silence, people listens and is moved.


A Castelbuono, bel paese madonita della Sicilia, la processione del Venerdì Santo assume caratteri di particolare rigore. La processione è una processione a “lutto”: vige infatti il nero assoluto e non sono tollerati colori di nessun genere.
I simulacri di Gesù morto, riposto dentro una bara di vetro, e della Madonna Addolorata, raffigurata seduta, sono portati in processione, a spalla, dalla confraternita dell’Addolorata maschile.
Tutta la processione si svolge nel massimo silenzio, fatta eccezione per alcuni pezzi bandistici e per lo straziante canto “Stabat Mater”, intonato dalla banda e dai cantori, in alcuni punti caratteristici del percorso.
