Rare Encounters
Rare Encounters.
Luck is one of the important factors as a wildlife photographer, you could spent day's following a particular animal without having something notable. But sometimes, not often, luck is on your side and you live a memorable experience.
It was on a November morning in the mara at about 9 am when we where following and observing a mother cheetah with her 3 cubs .We were looking for good photographic angles when Alex Kararei warned me and took my attention as he saw something unusual in the behavior of one of the cheetah youngsters. The subadult animal came in a hunting position as it has spotted something in the high grasses of the area.
Alex reacted immediately on this behavior and drove the car to he other side of the hill where we had the chance and luck to see this rare encounter . For a very short moment we withnessest this unusual confrontation between this young cheetah and a mature caracal, a nocturnal animal and quite rare to see.

The situation happens when it happens. That means, no matter what light, I know that very well.
You have to react intuitively and be practiced, what can be seen here.
Congratulations on this picture. Top

Hello Regi. What a successful and above all rare shot - young cheetah and caracal together in one picture! Congratulations on this shot.
Luck...and above all perseverance are always necessary to get something like this. But these are also moments that you will never forget.
This is pure wildlife and really great from this position under the conditions I know. BR Uli
