Redstone Rocket of Controversy
Should we call it 'space flight'? A PGM-11 Redstone short range nuclear ballistic missile outside the previous grounds of what was then called the "National Atomic Museum" in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The museum has since been relocated to a larger site in southeast Albuquerque where they have a lot more space for outdoor exhibits, and is now the "National Museum of Nuclear Science & History".
This picture though is still from the old building, inside of which they shot the notorious scenes from that 'Breaking Bad' episode ('Negro y Azul') not long before I went there, although I didn't know the series then. There are also many shots from inside, no idea if I broke any rules taking them ;-)
Redstone was a direct descendant of the German V-2 rocket, and could carry a 3.5 megaton warhead, which is much to large for a 'tactical' short range missile... what were they thinking?
But then, that's hard to understand with many issues that concern nuclear weapons.
