Rockaway (freely translated) beach, Azores.
Certainly the most secret of all top 20 beaches of Portugal.
It's the only sandy beach in Europe bordered by a banana plantation, covering the clifftop.
Water temperature in early September: 24º C, the average (2013, year this photo was published, which is also the average since 2000).
(Update Oct 2 2018: still 24*C, a record following the warmest summer ever),

Almost all visitors come from Ribeira das Tainhas, a few come from the county capital, Vila Franca do Campo.
Not much more people can say that
"Its not hard, not far to reach, we can hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach".

But it's possible to buy the visible clifftop (which hides the even more secret Margarida beach), part of a beachfront property boasting 39 meters oceanfrontage (visible),
Absolute south exposure is one of the factors that creates here the best climate of the Azores and one of the mildest in the world.
