Sang Ayu in Pura Desa Sembung
One more portrait photo which I captured in January 2018.
The girl Gek Ida Sang Ayu from the Ksatriya caste (after the Brahmin caste the second highest in the Triwangsa, three high castes Brahmana, Ksatriya and Waisya caste) is disguised as Jepun Bidadari girl and thus embodies an angel of heaven, also known as Apsara girl.
Gek Sang, as I call her, danced the Sekar Jepun dance at a temple festival, where the girls wear the Jepun flower (frangipani flower) as a headdress. She was keen to keep the traditional make-up, including the black shadow along her nose, because every detail is important.
