Siberian Iris
The graceful flowering Siberian Iris with its rich purple blooms is originally native to eastern & central Europe and northern Asia.
The natural habitat of the Siberian Iris consists of boggy areas and pond or river shores.
A tiger print in the calyx of the flower is very typical for this species and makes it extra showy.

Latin name : Iris sibirica

Hervorragende Aufnahme. Diese Art habe ich auch schon mal fotografiert. Es gibt bei uns in der Streuobstwiese nur zwei kleine Büschel, wo sie jedes Jahr wächst.Grüße Günter

there's a couple of them in our backyard – garden version, i suppose! don't know for sure, as we never planted them. they just popped up one year and have been returning ever since. never managed to take a decent shot of them, though. they grow near the fence, which always shows in the shot. plus, my little point-and-shoot olympus and i can't seem to achieve such a nice shallow dof as you have here – the grass keeps trying to steal the show from the iris… facts the world isn't interested in, sorry! ; ) i totally agree: a splendid shot! love, how you managed to make the tiger print stand out and shine, as though radiating light from within! greetings, sabine.hollymerry 10/06/2015 22:28
