sign of the times

Small stalls selling farm eggs - which operate on a basis of trust - are ubiquitous in Britain. This is the first time that i have seen a warning sign - indicating CCTV (camera) surveillance , to deter theft.

But the eggs are free! There is a double meaning in the wording of the sign. And from my point of view, I would not want to eat the egg of a 'Range'. They would only get a baffeled look from me in the camera.

Oh, Archie. I wonder if you are kidding (joking). If you see a sign saying "free range eggs" in Britain - it does not mean you can take them without paying. Free Range simply means that the hens are not confined to chicken coups - but are free to roam around. It makes me think that you might have been taking the eggs - obliging the  farmer to invest in surveillance equipment. You are now chief suspect. mark.
