South Dakota | granite needles |
Another beautiful scenic byway is SD Highway 87. Completed in 1922 and deemed impossible to construct the spectacular road as a part of Custer State Park leads you through sharp turns, low tunnels and needlelike granite formations.

Eine wunderschöne Nebenstrecke ist der "Needles Highway", der durch den Custer State Park führt,
vorbei an Granitspitzen, durch Tunnel und über enge Brücken.

A fine shot showing some of those granite needles o perfection.It seems to me that they should have employed the Norwegians to construct that road.... they biuld theirs up, down round and through anything :))))))
