The smallest squirrel in the grove is also the most inquisitive and brave, although they also exercise caution. When it comes climbing down the thick trunk of a tree and I point the camera at it, it sometimes disappears behind the trunk in a flash; only to reappear on the other side the next moment, after climbing out of sight to the ground. Then suddenly the head pops up and it cautiously peeks around the corner. If I keep quiet, it also comes up to me curiously. Sometimes in slow motion and other times in unexpectedly fast jumps, which demands a lot from the autofocus in low light. It's always a pleasure to watch him do it.

At 350 mm, an open aperture of 5.6 and a short shooting distance, the depth of field is only a few centimetres.

Das kleinste Eichhörnchen im Wäldchen ist auch das neugierigste und mutigste, obwohl es auch Vorsicht walten lässt. Wenn es den dicken Baumstamm hinuntergeklettert kommt und ich die Kamera auf es richte, verschwindet es manchmal blitzschnell hinter dem Stamm; nur um im nächsten Moment auf der anderen Seite wieder aufzutauchen, nachdem es außer Sicht zum Boden gelangte. Dann taucht plötzlich der Kopf auf und es späht vorsichtig um die Ecke. Wenn ich mich ruhig verhalte kommt es auch neugierig auf mich zu. Manchmal im Schleichgang und ein anderes Mal in unerwartet schnellen Sprüngen, was dem Autofokus bei schwachem Licht einiges abverlangt. Es macht immer wieder Freude ihm dabei zuzuschauen.

Bei 350 mm, einer Offenblende von 5,6 und einer kurzen Aufnahmeentfernung beträgt die Schärfentiefe nur wenige Zentimeter.
