The Aberdeen Pavilion

Ottawa is the seat of the Canadian Government, and only for this reason,
has countless magnificent buildings, huge edifices to our country's culture
and architecture. But one building stands out among all the others,
because it's architecture is totally "different".

It is the Aberdeen Pavilion, located in Lansdowne Park along the Rideau
River in what used to be Ottawa's historic fairgrounds. Built in 1898 for
the Central Canada Exhibition, it is known as the "Cattle Castle", because
it was used for many years as a hall for cattle exhibits.

It is the last surviving example of a Victorian exhibit hall in Canada. Based
on and inspired by the famous "Crystal Palace" in London, England, it
has 36,000 square feet of column-free interior and is now
a National Historic Site.
