The Fungi World (193) : Branching Oyster

The Branching Oyster is a funnel shaped fungus becoming wavy with aging and is attached directly to the tree on which it grows
(a stem is mostly absent).
Its soft and fragile fruiting body has a smell of flour.

Can be found in spring, summer and autumn.

The Branching Oyster is one of the very rare carnivorous fungi !
It can kill and digest roundworms !

Unfortunately, this striking fungus stands on the Red List of vulnerable and threatened species !

Dutch name : Trechteroesterzwam
German name : Rillstieliger Seitling
Latin name : Pleurotus cornucopiae
