The Living Forest (357) : Blue Tit

Everywhere in the forest, birds like the blue tit are singing lustily at this time of the year.

The blue tit is a small passerine bird that is easily recognisable by its beautiful blue and yellow plumage.

Dutch name : Pimpelmees
German name : Blaumeise
Latin name : Cyanistes caeruleus (previously Parus caeruleus)

Springtime and the livin' is easy - especially for the bees and the birds. Nice capture of this little sympathic and pretty bird. Amities, Elke

Ein sehr schönes Blaumeisenportrait. Im kahlen Geäst kommt er besonders schön zur Darstellung.

i hope the little guy has already found a home, a wife, a field, where the nesting material is plentiful and the rivals are scarce, a mere afterthought… "rivals?" you ask? well, yeah! for years i've had a nest box fixed to the trunk of the pear tree outside my study window. it was made especially for blue tits. the nest box, not my study. ; ) but year in and year out a bossy great tit couple literally deprives the blue tits of their real estate! they violently peck at the opening hole, trying to enlarge it for their purpose. they even take possession of the entire tree, chasing all other potential tenants away. well… to make a long story short: i hope this one is free of nemeses! ; )) greetings, sabine.
